Nigeria Muslim Forum UK Leadership Strengthens Ties with Turkish Community in North London

LONDON, April 18, 2025

The leadership of the Nigeria Muslim Forum UK (NMFUK) paid a courtesy visit to the Turkish community in North London this week, marking a significant step toward fostering intercultural dialogue and collaborative community initiatives.

The high-level delegation included Dr. Abdullahi Shehu MBE (Chair, Board of Trustees), Dr. Bukar Wobi (Trustee), Dr. Bilyaminu Romo Auwal (National Amir), Sheikh Dr. Bakari Arabi (Chair, Ulama Council), and Hajiya Hauwa Yusuf Funtua (National Publicity Secretary).

During the visit, the NMFUK leadership expressed profound gratitude for the warm reception and the opportunity to exchange ideas on educational programs and community development initiatives. The meeting focused on sharing best practices in supplementary education, youth mentorship, and strategies for promoting cultural inclusion within the broader British society.

"Building bridges between our communities strengthens us all," said Dr. Abdullahi Shehu MBE. "We are particularly impressed by the Turkish community's educational programs that preserve cultural heritage while preparing young people for success in British society."

The visit ended with Friday prayers led by Sheikh Dr. Bakari Arabi, who delivered a khutba emphasizing the Islamic principles of unity, life after death, mutual respect, and collaborative community building.

Both communities committed to launching joint initiatives, including a multicultural and learning visit program and regular educational exchanges designed to celebrate diversity while addressing common challenges facing minority communities in the UK.

This visit represents another milestone in NMFUK's ongoing efforts to build meaningful partnerships across London's diverse cultural landscape.
